Love Wavertree is delighted to have joined forces with Placed to create an interactive platform for our community to share and discuss ideas, thoughts, comments, fears, feelings, hopes and dreams for Wavertree as we look to develop a shared and co-created vision for our area.
Placed is a locally-based social enterprise that brings people and communities together to make better places. The Placed team delivers workshops, pop-up events and tailor made programmes including the Placed Academy, which works with young people aged 14-18 who have an interest in urban design and the built environment.
Love Wavertree welcomed a number of young people to a day-long session focussed on Wavertree High Street in February of this year (pre-lockdown). Attendees enjoyed a tour of Wavertree’s (numerous) heritage sites with local Blue Badge tour guides Martin Hudson and Richard MacDonald and the session generated some really wonderful and imaginative, yet practical and deliverable ideas.
Placed is exploring potential for the ‘Social Pinpoint’ engagement platform as part of regional and national discussions around high street recovery and community-led development. We are delighted that Placed has chosen the Love Wavertree community to work with as its first featured case study on the platform. We know that our community is not short of ideas! And we hope that the platform becomes a useful and valuable tool for us all.
There are two main sections on the platform – the ‘Interactive Map‘ and ‘Ideas Wall‘. On the ‘Interactive Map’ feature, users can create comments within a particular theme choosing from Buildings, Services, Green Spaces, Transport & Connectivity or Other (represented by different colours) and ‘drag and drop’ their comment to the relevant point on the map. The ‘Ideas Wall’ allows for more general ideas and comments within a selection of five themes: Community & Culture/ Art, Music & Creativity / Heritage & Conservation/ Skills & Enterprise and Sustainable Living.
You can access the platform here.
Please do take the time to explore the platform and to submit your ideas, thoughts and comments.
Let’s show everyone that the Love Wavertree community is leading the way and that our High Street is *the* high street.
